Quiet on the set!

In a press release, the UK Xbox website announced that 1 vs. 100, a live gameshow where Xbox LIVE users took their avatars and answered sets of questions to win actual prizes, would not be returning for a third season. The game show, which provided set times in which Xbox LIVE players could join in the gameshow as a party or by themselves, had an iconic two years, but unfortunately didn't make it to the top. Although largely advertised throughout the Xbox community, it was somewhat surprising that the show would not be returning to Xbox LIVE.

"When we started on this journey, we knew we were creating an entirely new genre of entertainment that would be a continually evolving concept,” said Dave McCarthy, General Manager, Microsoft Game Studios. “We’re very proud of the ‘1 vs 100’ team and their accomplishments, and are excited to apply what we’ve learned to future programming."

Some people may not even know what 1 vs. 100 is, although most probably do. It really was an idea that stuck out beyond limitations, and was nothing like spending $30 on a Wheel-of-Fortune or Family Feud game. It was a great addition to the Xbox LIVE experience, and will truly be missed. As for the future, Dave McCarthy, hopefully it will bring better. Not good, but better.

And we thank you Microsoft Game Studios, for your astounding two seasons of the groundbreaking 1 vs. 100.
